Upper Back Pain

Upper back pain is often due to bad posture and a lack of extension through the thoracic spine (middle of the back). This also has a major influence on injuries seen in overhead sports eg tennis, badminton and javelin throwing.  It can be the cause of many musculoskeletal problems, such as neck, shoulder and lower back pain.

If you suffer with upper back pain, we advise you to book in for a spinal assessment which will include detailed analysis of postural and movement imbalances.

The upper back responds well to physiotherapy treatment, which may include manipulation and mobilisation techniques as well as specific exercises to improve your posture and overall muscle imbalances. Our aim is to help you prevent the condition from reoccurring. We may also recommend a course of Pilates to help maintain good postural alignment.
