Sports Injuries
Working regularly with amateur and elite athletes, our sports
specialists understand that good management of a sports injury
is key, which is why we do more than just treat the problem. We
investigate the cause of your injury and work with you to try
and prevent the problem from reoccurring.
At your first visit our chartered sports physiotherapists will
look at all the contributory factors to your condition, such as
co-ordination, biomechanics, habitual usage patterns and previous
injury.
Sports Specific
When assessing, diagnosing and treating a sports injury, the physiotherapist
will consider the skills and physical demands involved in your
specific sport, along with the movement patterns and training
required to achieve optimum performance. All of these aspects
need to be analysed to ensure that your rehabilitation programme
helps you return to your sport stronger, more stable and conditioned
than before your injury.
Sports Physician
We have developed a very successful private referral system with consultants and specialists across London and the South East. Many of our patients benefit from seeing a specialist within a few days or even the day after a referral is made, which is very important for athletes wanting to return to their sport as soon as possible.
We also have a monthly on-site clinic with Sports Physician and Arsenal Doctor, Ian Beasley.
Video Analysis
The use of video analysis allows us to watch your movement patterns
and identify potential injury problems and muscle imbalances.
We use this regularly with cricketers, netball players, soccer
players and track athletes.
In addition we have a four-camera video analysis system at our
Mottingham Practice, which is particularly useful for golf analysis.
Clients can take away a copy of their golf swing on CD.
Advanced Exercise Rehabilitation
As you recover from your injury we will structure your rehabilitation,
incorporating flexibility, strength and muscle balance in a graduated
but challenging programme. This will be specific to your sport
and tailor made for you.
Musculoskeletal Analysis
You don’t have to wait until you are injured to have a musculoskeletal
analysis. These are often used as a means of identifying potential
problems before they occur. A musculoskeletal analysis takes up
to an hour and is followed by a detailed report of the problem
areas you need to address. We will work with you to help improve
your physical ability and technique.
Athletes from all sports have found these to be very useful. In
particular we offer this as part of our Golf Analysis, Movement
and Performance Programme.
VibroGym A revolutionary concept in rehabilitation, strength and conditioning for sports, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
- Use it to rehabilitate your sports injuries
- Great for fitness work, especially if you prefer a more private environment to the crowded gym!
- Helps with mobility and function with some neurological conditions
The concept of the VibroGym is a mechanical stimulus characterised by a recurring motion back and forth over the same pattern. Training effects include performance enhancement, rehabilitation and health.
The origins of Vibration training go back almost 40 years, when it was used by the Russian Space Agency to try and combat the effects of zero gravity on the musculoskeletal systems of its cosmonauts! It was then picked up and researched further with athletes from rowing, track and field athletics, gymnasts and dancers. Nowadays it is being successfully used in professional sport with VibroGyms at Chelsea FC, Manchester Utd, Scotland RFU and Northampton RFC, to name but a few.
