We aim to provide positive support for people suffering from back pain.
From regular treatment to a structured programme that will help you work
towards a healthier and pain free lifestyle, we are sure there is some
way we can help you.
Whether you have an acute onset or persistent back pain, you may benefit
from physiotherapy treatment. Before we start treating you we need to
take a full history and assess your condition thoroughly, which is why
we recommend a spinal assessment. These last for approximately 50 minutes
to allow time for both assessment and treatment to take place.
Treatment may consist of manipulation, mobilisation of the joints and
soft-tissue, acupuncture, soft-tissue massage, long-wave ultrasound and
an exercise programme to help stabilise and strengthen your back.
Exercise for Back Pain
Research has shown that people who suffer with neck and back pain don’t
use their deep stabilising muscles efficiently. By exercising and re-educating
the deep postural stabilising muscles, you can help reduce pain and stiffness
in the lumbo-pelvic area. These exercises also help to eliminate muscle
imbalances found in the individual’s musculoskeletal systems.
These exercises are often carried out with equipment such as foam rollers,
gym balls and other balance equipment.
Pilates classes will also help strengthen your stabilising muscles. Many
of our ‘back’ patients move on to Pilates classes as part of their rehabilitation
process.
